Men’s and Women’s Open (32 teams per category) |
Introduction:
The Grand Prix will last through out the whole year (2007) and there will be a total of 3 minors and 4 majors. Within these 7 tournaments, teams will have to accumulate as many points as possible to be in one of the top 8 positions in order to qualify for the Grand Prix Finals. The first major will be held on the 27 th and 28 th December 2006. There will be a total of 32 Men's and 32 ladies team. Subsequent tournaments will have more teams participating.
1st Minor: Kvasir's Challenge (God of Inspiration)
2nd Minor: Loki's Challenge (Trickster and God of mischief)
3rd Minor: Idun's Challenge (Goddess of Youth)
1st Major: The Thor Cup (God of Thunder)
2nd Major: The Freyja Cup (Goddess of Love, fertility and battle)
3rd Major: The Váli Cup (The God of Revenge)
4th Major: The Odin Cup (Chief of Gods)
Grand Prix Final: The Battle of Ragnarok (Doom of the divine powers)
Tournament Format for minors:
All games are played in the 'Round-robin' format (stage 1), there will be a minimum of 4 teams in each group. The top team of each group will qualify to the quarterfinals (stage 2) from there they will advance to the semis and make it to the finals. All games will consist of 8 mins of playing time. The tournament will be played until we get the top 8 teams. Only the top 3 teams will win cash prizes.

The top 2 teams of each group will draw lots to see who they will play against, and the winner will qualify to the quarterfinals (stage 2) from there they will advance to the semis and make it to the finals. All games will consist of 8 mins of playing time. The tournament will be played until we get the top 8 teams. Only the top 3 teams will win cash prizes.

Point system:
Besides winning prizes the teams can also accumulate points for both minors and majors. This is a system where by teams can earn points to qualify for the Grand Prix Finals. After every tournament the top eight teams get points, and here is how the point system works.

The other teams do not get any points from 9 th place onwards.
Teams:
Teams can be registered as long as there are at least 5 players, including 1 goalie. *
*A team can register up to a maximum of 10 players. Once a team has registered 10 players they are not allowed to change the players anymore unless a valid reason is given. If the reason is valid the team cannot pick a player who is already registered with other teams. The reason will be judged by the tournament committee.
Closing Date:
Entry is on a first-come-first-served basis. Only the first 32 teams in each category to register will be allowed to participate in the tournament. Cash payment is to be made at Valhall or Tiasa Pte Ltd , 545 Orchard Road , Far East Shopping Centre #06-16 Singapore 238882. Late entries will not be entertained.
Tournament Rules:
The tournament shall be conducted in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Singapore Floorball Association and the International Floorball Federation, unless otherwise stated.
All games may start with 4 players including goalie on the court.
If at full-time, the teams are level on goals, the winner will be decided by 3 penalty shots from each team.
There is a face-off at the start of the game and after each goal. The referee can also call for a face-off on the legal face-off spots when it is unclear which team should have possession of the ball.
A player is not allowed to lift the stick above the hip, hook or trip an opponent with the stick or leg, throw the stick, stand inside the goal area, kick the ball to a teammate, or stop the ball with the hands, arms or head.
All offences will be penalized with a free hit, except for more serious offences, which will be penalized by a penalty shot.
The first-named team in the fixtures shall ensure that their jerseys contrast in color to those of the opposing team.
The Referees' decision is final concerning all matters within their jurisdiction. If there are doubts, the subject matter may be referred to the Organizing Committee.
Supplementary Rules:
The Organizer will not provide floorball sticks to the participants.
The Organizer assumes no responsibility for personal injuries or loss of belongings, arising from the participation in the tournament or activities related to the tournament.
Teams are to be ready 10 minutes before the scheduled start of each game.
Each team captain is responsible for the proper control and conduct of the players.
Teams representing schools must have their teacher-in-charge present.
Should there be any matter or question that arises at any point that is not in any rules governing this tournament, the decision made by the Organizing Committee shall be final.
